Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi City and Transport Department has revised the fines for violations of the law against littering in public places. Officials warned that fines of up to 4,000 dirhams will be imposed depending on the violation. If you throw away a cigarette butt, the fine is 500 dirhams for the first time. The second time, the fine is 1,000 dirhams, and the third time, the fine is 2,000 dirhams.
If you throw food waste outside the bin, the fine is 500 dirhams. The second time, the fine is 1,000 dirhams, and the repeated violation is 2,000 dirhams. If you throw other garbage or waste in a designated area, the fine is 1,000 dirhams. The second and third offenses will be fined 2,000 dirhams and the third offense will be fined 4,000 dirhams. The new order was issued in 2024 to amend the law against littering and using spray paint to defile public places during National Day celebrations. The same penalty will be imposed for sleeping in public places or for throwing objects such as chewing gum in public places other than in garbage bins.
The first offense will be fined 1,000 dirhams for spitting or chewing gum. The second offense will be fined 2,000 dirhams and the third offense will be fined 4,000 dirhams. The fine for illegally posting or distributing advertisements in public places (parked cars, pillars, walls) is 1,000 dirhams. The second time will be 2000 dirhams, the third time, and the subsequent times will be 4000 dirhams each. Smoking outside the designated area will be fined 500 dirhams. The second time will be 1000 dirhams, and the third time will be 2000 dirhams each. Using loudspeakers, radios, or amplifiers without permission, or shining laser lights in a way that causes inconvenience to others, will be a fine of 1000 dirhams. The second time will be 2000 dirhams, and the third time will be 4000 dirhams each. Abandoning vehicles in a way that destroys the beauty of public places or leaving vehicles in a dirty state will be a fine of 500 dirhams. A fine of 1000 dirhams will be imposed for a repeat offence and 2000 dirhams for a third offence.
