Dubai: The Dubai Road Transport Authority (RTA) has installed free Wi-Fi at 17 bus stations and 12 marine transport stations in the city. The system was developed in collaboration with telecom company 'Ethisalat' to improve the experience of passengers. The project will help them connect and use Wi-Fi on smartphones, tablets and laptops while traveling.

Khalid Abdulrahman Al Awadi, Director of Transportation Systems at the RTA Public Transport Agency, said that steps have been taken to expand the scheme to all bus stations and marine transport stations in the emirate. He also expressed hope that the project will be completed in the second half of this year. The project includes a total of 43 stations, including 21 bus stations and 22 marine stations.
The RTA project was designed as part of the UAE’s digital policy to accelerate digitalization in all sectors. The authorities also aim to make travel enjoyable and quality for those using bus and marine transport systems.

The project also helps strengthen the vision of making Dubai the world’s most intelligent and happiest city, the authorities said in a press release.
