The Dubai Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department announced that Ramadan fasting will begin on Tuesday, March 12. This was clarified in the Hijri calendar published by the department.

Working hours, holidays and free parking in the UAE have been changed as part of the rollout. Reduced working hours apply to both fasting and non-fasting employees. The UAE government announces shorter working hours in both the public and private sectors. Typically, employees work eight hours a day or 48 hours a week. This reduces to six hours a day, making it 36 hours a week.

Study days are reduced to five hours daily. However, this year, most schools will remain closed during the first three weeks of the holy month.

Paid parking hours have been revised during Ramadan. These will be announced closer to the holy month. Last year, Dubai charged parking fees from 8am to 6pm. Residents were given two hours of free parking on weekdays from 8pm to 12 midnight, Monday to Saturday. The Sharjah fee is charged from 8am to midnight from Saturday to Thursday.
