Countries around the world have introduced new travel rules 

Just like many countries around the world have started to relax their border restrictions and open up air traffic, reports of the Omicron Cvoid19 variant in South Africa made many of these doors slam again. 

Different countries and territories have taken different approaches to prevent the spread of this new variant, which also puts travelers in a bind during the Christmas season. 

Dubai Emirates Airline has issued guidelines to be followed if a flight is canceled or is affected by route suspensions due to Covid-19 restrictions. 

The most recent information is as follows: 

If your travel plans are affected by Covid-19, you can change your reservation through Manage Reservations or  contact your travel agent. You can also request a refund. 

Is there a change fee? 

There are no rebooking fees for rebooking within the ticket validity period, so you can plan more flexibly in advance. However, there may be differences in fee or tax if you  change the date or  destination.

The ticket will be accepted for any flight to the same destination in the same booking class in the same cabin at no additional cost during this period. 

- For tickets issued between April 1, 2021 and October 11, 2021 with a travel date  before May 31, 2022 

Emirates has extended its validity for 24 months from the date of the original booking. Your ticket will be accepted for any flight to the same destination or region * (see below) in the same travel class in the same cabin at no additional cost during this period. 

- For tickets issued between October 1, 2020 and March 31, 2021 with a travel date  before May 31, 2022 

Emirates has extended its validity for 36 months from the date of the original booking. Your ticket will be accepted for any flight to the same destination or region * in the same travel class at no additional cost during this period. 

- For tickets issued  before September 30, 2020, with  travel date  before May 31, 2022 

You can keep the ticket you have already booked and use it later. We have extended its validity by 36 months from the date of the original reservation. Your ticket will be accepted for any flight to the same destination or region * in the same travel class, at no additional cost during this period. 

How to modify your reservation 

If you have booked your flights directly from Emirates, the validity of your ticket will be automatically extended.Call the airline with your dates when you are ready to fly. 

Contact the travel agency if the ticket was booked through them before the ticket expires to extend the validity from 24 months to 36 months. 

Can I change my destination? 

Yes, in some cases you can change your destination to another in the same region *. However, it depends on when you booked your ticket. 

If you have booked your ticket from 12 October  2021, with a travel date up to 31 May  2022 

You can exchange it for the same destination, in the same fare season and in the same travel class Without supplements. Be sure to cancel your reservation if you cannot travel to avoid charges. 

If you have booked your ticket between April 1, 2021 and October 11, 2021, with a travel date  before May 31, 2022 

You can exchange your ticket for another destination in the same region * and in the same class travel at no additional cost. If the itinerary of your original booking did not include Dubai,  you can only  change your flight to a similar itinerary that does not include Dubai. 

 For tickets issued  before September 30, 2020, with a travel date  before May 31, 2022 

Your ticket will be accepted for any flight to the same destination or region * in any travel class. does not include Dubai,  you can only  change your flight to a similar itinerary that does not include Dubai. 

* The regions of the Emirates  are: 

  1. Africa
  2. Australia
  3. Europe
  4. Far East
  5. China
  6. Gulf, Middle East and Iran
  7. Indian Ocean Islands
  8. North America
  9. South America
  10. West Asia 

Refund for non-cancellation 

Yes, even if your flight has not been canceled, you can still request a refund.There is no cancellation charge and Emirates will refund the cost of the flight. However, service charges and taxes will not be refunded.
