UAE resumes tourist visas for vaccinated passengers

The UAE will be accepting travelers on tourist visa "from all countries" who received both doses of the World Health Organization (WHO) -approved Covid19 vaccine. 

This also applies to holders of tourist visas from countries that restrict travel to the UAE, authorities said on Saturday. 

The new directive takes effect August 30, the Federal Identity and Citizenship Agency (ICA) and the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority  (NCEMA) said in a joint statement.

“Passenger visa holders must pass a mandatory rapid PCR test at the airport upon arrival. The previous rules for unvaccinated (from restricted countries), including exempted categories, remain in place."

The individuals with tourist visas are able to register their vaccination certificates and update the status on the ICA website or AlHosn app to “enjoy the same benefits” as vaccinated UAE citizens, the announcement added.

Update on tourist visas

UAE authorities on Saturday made the announcement that the country will resume issuing tourist visas.

Application for tourist visas will be open to people from all countries starting August 30, 2021. Tourists will need to be vaccinated with anyone of the Covid-19 vaccines approved by WHO. Tourist visas are also open for passengers from countries from which travel was previously restricted.

Passengers arriving on tourist visas must take a mandatory rapid PCR test on arrival at the airport.
