Wam agency reported that the Shawwal crescent was not sighted in the UAE on Tuesday. Hence, Ramadan 30 days will be completed on Wednesday, May 12, and the first day of Eid Al Fitr will be on Thursday, May 13.
Accordingly the UAE residents can enjoy the Eid holidays for 5 days which begin today and will last till Saturday.
Earlier this evening, Saudi Arabia, also announced that the crescent moon had not been sighted.
Masjids across the country will be having Eid Al Fitr prayers on Thursday with strict Covid safety guidelines.
The total time of the Eid prayer, including the Khutbhah, is limited to 15 minutes. Masjids and musallahs will open 15 minutes before the prayer and will close immediately after.
All people going to Masjid are required to keep a safe distance from others and not crowd around the musallas’ entrances and exits. The precautionary measures which are now followed for the Taraweeh prayers apply for Eid prayers also including wearing face masks and carrying individual prayer mats.
