The chance to correct visa status for UAE visa holders whose visa has expired before March 1, 2020 is ending soon. ICA has reminded through its latest tweet that the violators should depart the country before Dec 31, 2020.

The grace period for overstay is ending with less than a month. The overstaying people in UAE need to complete the process to exit the country before the grace period ends, the Federal Authority of Identity and Citizenship (ICA) on Thursday explained the procedures.

The individuals whose visas expired before March 1,  2020 can avail of the exemption from all fines and other administrative restrictions like labour ban, until Dec 31, the ICA said in a tweet.

Residence visa violators should purchase an air ticket with the departure date before December 31 and arrive four hours before the departure time at the airport with the ticket and passport. The four hour time is applicable for expired residence visas departing from all airports in the country.

Visit visa holders whose permit expired before March 1 and booked their ticket from Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah airports — should arrive at the airport at least 6 hours before the departure time to avail of the amnesty programme. Those people who booked travel through Dubai and Al Maktoum airports is required to report 48 hours before departure time at the Dubai Civil Aviaion Security Centre.

The ICA authority also said that the visa violators who have dependants under their sponsorship should also exit from the country. If a husband's visa is expired before March 1, 2020 but his family members visa is still valid. What will happen? Solution: The whole family must depart from the country before December 31 to avoid overstay fines and other restrictions.
