The national carrier of India's Air India and its subsidiary company Air India Express on Friday made announcement of the latest travel update for passengers flying to UAE through Sharjah International Airport.

From today onwards, residence visa holders of Abu Dhabi emirate need green signal approval from the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) before flying to Sharjah airport.

"With immediate effect, passengers holding residence visas from Al Ain and Abu Dhabi need to have ICA approval before arriving into Sharjah," Air India stated in its latest circular.

In a separate notice the airline made the announcement of opening of bookings of  repatriation flights by Vande Bharat Mission to India for the coming November and December.

At the same time, Sharjah's Air Arabia, on its travel guidelines, stated: "Passengers with residence visas issued by Abu Dhabi or Al Ain should visit http://uaeentry.ica.gov.ae/ to verify their entry status. Residents of other emirates are not required to arrange prior approval."
