Authorities at Abu Dhabi International Airport are putting on the medically approved tracking device to passengers arriving from all countries.
In line with applied precautionary measures to combat the spread of COVID-19, the Abu Dhabi Crisis, Emergency and Disasters Committee outlines quarantine guidelines for arrive arrivals.
Quarantine guidelines for international travellers to Abu Dhabi
Below are the steps to follow for passengers arriving through any UAE Port/entry points directly to Abu Dhabi.
This list includes people arriving at other emirate like Dubai or Sharjah airport and need to go directly to the capital city without staying in other Emirates.
Step 1 : Conduct a PCR test
Step 2: Register under quarantine system and receive electronic wristband at Abu Dhabi's border or entry point.
Step 3: Electronic wristband must be worn for 15 days in self-quarantine.
Step 4: Conduct a PCR test on day 12.
Step 5: Once negative test results received wristband will be removed on day 14.
Passengers travelling through UAE port/entry points who spend time in other emirates before coming to Abu Dhabi
This list includes people arrived at other emirate like Dubai or Sharjah airport and stayed there for sometime and want to go to the capital city.
Below steps to follow if person has arrived in the Dubai, Sharjah or other emirate and the days are less than 14.
Step 1 : Conduct a PCR test
Step 2: Register under quarantine system and receive electronic wristband at Abu Dhabi's border or entry point.
Step 3: May deduct the days spent in other emirates from their self-isolate period. for example- 2 days stay in other Emirates means 12 days in self-quarantine.
Step 4: Conduct a PCR test on day 12.
Step 5: Once negative test results received wristband will be removed on day 14.
If a person was staying for more than 14 days in other emirate and want to enter Abu Dhabi follow below process.
No need to quarantine in Abu Dhabi. May enter the capital of UAE via approved border procedure and after undergoing required tests.
On arrival in Abu Dhabi
Health authorities will evaluate the most appropriate location for quarantine. This may be at home, in a hotel, or in accommodation provided by the authorities.
Violating these procedures will result in penalties and fines as outlined by the Attorney General.

"On arrival into Abu Dhabi airport terminal you must self-isolate for 14 days. Self-isolating must take place at home and you will be required to wear a medically approved wristband for the duration. The wristband will be provided by the authorities at Abu Dhabi Airport after you clear immigration," Etihad Airways said in the new guidelines posted on its website.
"If you are holding a diplomatic passport, under the age of 18, over the age of 60, or suffering from a chronic disease, you will be exempt from having to wear the wristband."

Travellers arriving from a country deemed high risk by the UAE authorities may be subject to quarantine at a government facility.
The airline has also asked passengers that they will be required to complete a form agreeing to self-isolate and do everything they can to reduce the spread of Covid-19 in the UAE. "We recommend you complete this form in advance of your trip," stated the airline website..
All passengers arriving in Abu Dhabi undergo thermal screening and COVID-19 PCR testing at Abu Dhabi airport. Children under the age of 12 are excluded from the tests.
It is mandatory to have a Covid-19 PCR test before you fly with Etihad Airways.
"Your test must be carried out a maximum of 96 hours before your flight departure time at any government accredited medical facility. Timings will differ if you are flying from China and other select destinations. Guests departing Pakistan and India must use an Etihad approved medical facility," said the airline adding that children under 12 and people with mild and severe disabilities are exempt from Covid-19 PCR testing. "This may vary by destination - always check before you fly," said Etihad Airways.
