Enrol for online lectures, remove traffic black points in Sharjah

The motorists in Sharjah emirate can now avail of the driving awareness e-lectures through online to reduce and remove black points on their driving licences, the Sharjah police have announced.

Director-General of Central Operations, Brigadier General Dr Ahmed Saeed Al Naour, said that the police have joined up with the Sharjah Driving Institute and launched the electronic online version of the Traffic Points Reduction Programme on the website of Sharjah Police.

Brigadier Gen Al Naour said that the online lectures on the police website will “re-qualify” the drivers by “giving them more knowledge about the rules and regulation of roads in the UAE”. The online classes will help the drivers to learn about the laws and rules regarding the road usage in UAE and helps them to remove black points on driving licence in Sharjah.

The officer stresses about the police department's keenness to develop its digital offering “to make roads safer and achieve the highest levels of traffic safety for all road users”.

What is UAE Black Points system?

The UAE has a traffic points system for offences, where all traffic violations are punishable with fines and some violations will get you black points along with fines. When a driving licence acquires 24 black points, it could get suspended temporarily.

The Traffic Points Reduction Programme allows the motorists or drivers avail of awareness study classes in exchange for removing of a maximum of eight traffic points per year.
