The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) will start receiving applications for the renewal of expired residency visas and Emirates ID cards in three phases.

The process will start from July 12, 2020 and from Sunday onwards the authorities will start to receive renewal applications for the visas and EID's that expired in March and April, the authority announced on Saturday.

The residency documents that had expired in May 2020 will be processed from 8th August,2020. The documents for the expiry date was in June and on July 1-11 will be processed from September 10.

The phase-wise renewal schedule will make easy for the implementation of social distancing at ICA centres as a precautionary and safety measure to curb the spread of Covid-19.

The UAE Cabinet had on Friday announced the decision to cancel all previous issued resolutions in view of COVID-19 pandemic about the automatic extension of validity of residency and visit visas.

Residents in the UAE have been given a 3 month grace period to complete their visa renewal steps.
