Visitors in the UAE whose has stuck here and visit visas expired after March 1 is now granted with 30 days grace period to leave the country or change their visa status to avoid fines, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) announced on Monday.

The one-month window had started on July 12, Brigadier Khamis Al Kaabi, spokesperson of the ICA, said in a TV interview.

The new rules follows the recent UAE Cabinet decision that has cancelled all previously issued resolutions related to the residency of expatriates and validity of visas, entry permits and Emirates ID cards. The automatic extension of expired visas and Emirates IDs until 31st December 2020 is no longer applicable.

As per the latest updates from ICA visitors has to change their status to new employment or residence or new visit visa. This has to be done on or before 10 August, 2020. If the status is not changing within the country then the person has to exit from the country by Augusy 10 or pay fines.

Brigadier Al Kaabi reiterated that residents and citizens within the country are given 90 days to renew their documents. Those outside the country will have a one-month window for renewal, with the grace period starting on the date of their arrival in the UAE.
