Residents who need to enter Abu Dhabi emirate need to have a negative Covid-19 test result, officials said on Monday. 

Abu Dhabi's Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Committee for the Covid-19 Pandemic said results must be shown to police at the border points. The result can be shown on AlHosn application or the text message received from a medical clinic or any screening centre coming under the National Screening Program.

The restrictions was partially lifted in the last week, with residents now allowed to move freely between the regions (Abu Dhabi, Al Dhafra and Al Ain). Residents were also permitted to travel out of emirate of Abu Dhabi, but they need to get a move permit from police department to enter back.

Essential Need to Know List for Covid Test: 

  • Covid-19 test - can be done at any of the below locations
    1. government health centers
    2. drive-in Covid testing sites
    3. private hospitals which has testing facility and affiliated to the National Screening Programme
  • Appointment for Covid-19 test - Citizens and residents can book appointment
    1. Book appointment through the SEHA hotline 800 1717
    2. Book through the SEHA smartphone app to test at the drive-through centres across the country.
    3. For Dubai residents call the DHA helpline at 800342 to book appointments.
    4. Call private healthcare facilities and book a Covid-19 test.
  • Validity of test or when a person should test for Covid-19 for entering Abu Dhabi
    1. Receive the test results within 48 hours prior to their visit.
    2. It will take 24 to 48 hours to receive the test results from most lab facilities across the UAE.
  • Document requirement for doing Covid-19 test
    1. Carry Emirates ID or passport and visa copy.
  • Cost for doing a Covid-19 test
    1. Most healthcare centres charge Dh350 to do a PCR test.
    2. Select categories like UAE citizens, pregnant women, residents above 50 and people of determination will be tested for free by the government health authorities.
Residents need to do a PCR test in order to enter Abu Dhabi. It is not yet clear whether residents need to get a permit to enter the emirate if they have a Covid-19 negative test result.
