The Department of Economic Development Abu Dhabi has launched a bicycle patrol initiative to monitor and inspect commercial stores and establishments in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi through bicycles supported with all requirements for inspectors, in a move that would enhance the acceleration of awareness and monitoring operations and at the same time contribute to enabling the work of inspectors.
Department Undersecretary Rashid Abdul Karim Al Balushi stressed Abu Dhabi’s economic keenness to implement initiatives that support its supervisory and supervisory role on the business sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, indicating that this initiative aims to enable inspections and oversight in local markets through the multiplicity of tools and means and speeding up awareness-raising and reducing abuses in particular Under the current circumstances imposed by the repercussions of the pandemic, COVID-19.
He said that the bicycle method helps the inspectors to the continuous movement and speed of movement between the shops and buildings that are crowded in addition to ensuring a speedy response with the reports received by the inspectors, and that this method will contribute to support to guide shoppers with physical distance from the front of the shops and limit their congregation.
As specified by the authorities, the bicycle patrols will do the inspection of possible crowded buildings and shops in the specific areas while making quick response to any complaints received to the economic department.
This type of inspection will also help inspectors to provide guidance to the shoppers on social distancing requirement and importance of avoiding crowds.
Ahmed Taresh Al Qubaisi, head of control and inspection section at ADDED said: "We have launched the cycling initiative to help spread awareness measures to curb the spread of Covid-19 by having inspectors at and in front of all crowded outlets."
