The UAE has finished its national sterilization program and lifted all movement limitations successful Wednesday. This implies residents can travel the nation whatever time of the day.

Prior, they were required to remain at home during the national sterilization program timings during 11pm and 6am in Dubai and 10pm and 6am in every other emirate. 

"Today we announce the completion of the National Disinfection Programme, which covered the country's public facilities and transportation. However, the public buildings will continue to be regularly disinfected," said Dr Saif Al Dhaheri, spokesman for National Crisis and Emergency Management Authority (NCEMA).

Addressing a virtual Press briefing on Wednesday, Dr Al Dhaheri said: "The programme helped us sterlise public facilities like public transportation means, including the Dubai Metro. We will continue to sterilise all public facilities."


The UAE originally issued a mandatory three-day curfew from March 26 to 29 to direct a general sterilization program to control the spread of coronavirus. It was successful from 8pm to 6am and residents were not permitted to step out of their homes except for the emergency situations. 

On March 31, a nation wide movement limitation was started until April 5 as a feature of the national sterilization program to clean busy streets and public offices and facilities. The curfew on movement ban during this period was 8pm and 6am. Dubai shut down passageways and exit to Al Ras in Deira for mass testing and exceptional disinfection program. An across the nation drive to purify the metro, transports, taxicabs and airport terminals was additionally propelled while shopping centers and eateries stayed shut. 

On April 23, with the start of the Holy month of Ramadan, the authorities reported that the evening curfew would be done from 10pm to 6am. Shopping centers and eateries were permitted to work at 30 percent limit.
