The new movement ban in Abu Dhabi started on Tuesday and will last for one week to guarantee mass Covid-19 testing. The movement restrictions on entering and leaving Abu Dhabi and between its regions allegedly has caused traffic slow down in various streets.
By Tuesday evening, the Abu Dhabi Police reminded the citizens and residents to get the movement permit for traveling during this time and emergency situations to evade traffic jam. "To help screening efforts, the police ask the general public to follow the guidelines ... to maintain a strategic distance from traffic jam at the checkpoints on the emirate's streets."
Brigadier Salem bin Barak Al Dhaheri, Deputy Director of Traffic and Patrols Department, earlier said that twelve checkpoints have been set up to enforce the travel movement restrictions.
"We ask members of the community to avoid travel between cities until the completion of National Screening Programme," he had qouted on Monday.
The vehicles with Abu Dhabi Police's 'Move Permit' is exempted from the one week travel ban.
Abu Dhabi Move permit is being issued by Abu Dhabi police department.
